The scene of Britain’s historic handover of Hong Kong to the People’s Republic of China in 1997, the extension to the convention and exhibition centre stands dramatically on the promontory of reclaimed land in the harbour.

The building’s concert, conference and exhibition halls lie beneath a powerfully expressed architectural roof of sweeping curves and wing shaped low level canopies.
Weatherwise designed, tested and installed a multi-layered acoustic roof build-up, with adjustable cleats and spacers, to create the precise geometry of the curved planes, over which the external aluminium sheets and decorative flat panels were laid.

To withstand the rigours of a typhoon wind zone Weatherwise designed, supplied and installed 48,000m2 of multilayer acoustically and thermally insulated aluminium cladding and louvers to the Turbine Halls and 32,000m2 of single skin thermally insulated aluminium cladding in matching colours to the ancillary buildings.

This £800,000 Project for the Guangzhou Provincial Government was a bold first step for Weatherwise in international contracting.

The complex comprised a football/athletics stadium, an indoor swimming pool and a gymnasium.

Successful coordination of packing, shipping and road transportation of several hundred containers enabled Weatherwise to demonstrate its expertise in logistics; training and supervising a keen but inexperienced workforce of some 150 men and women.

This enabled Weatherwise project managers to demonstrate their expertise, dedication and tenacity in completing the project.

Suntec City is a state of the art Convention and Exhibition Centre set in the Marina area of Singapore. With acoustics being of the utmost importance the multi-layer roof construction designed by Weatherwise provided all the necessary ratings.

With an overall area of apprximately 28,000m2 consisting of 48 pyramids the roof structure was constructed on the floor and jacked and craned into position prior to the roof finishes being installed.

The external finish consists of a mixture of aluminium rumboidal panels, shaped glass and ventilation louvres all to hide the acoustic build-up underneath.
